mommy called today (she calls every other day) and as usual she will start off by reminding me to do this and do that....or not to do this and do that during my confinement...or tell me about some new "rules" that she has found out from other aunties or neighbours (latest was not to eat cucumber coz if not, will have white lines on the face (huh??)).

she told me that she watched Oprah Winfrey show this morning and they were promoting some book called the Secret (which the first thing I thought of was the movie that Jay Chou directed and acted in..haha)...and one of the writers of the book is the same writer from the chicken soup for the soul series.

and then she said something that she said was taken from the book...of all advice she has given about confinement so far..this was the best...

"What you focus on will expand...therefore focus on the good stuff...you have a husband that loves you and a beautiful baby and your mother-in-law that is willing to take care of you without any complaints...think positive and be happy...count your blessings"

she was refering to my post natal blues that I was having...the thing with my mum, she will magnify every little bit thing that I said to her and then go and "research" about it to see how she can help...and she believes alot in what the newspapers says or what others say or what the books says (she doesnt really have her own methods of sieving out information..she just takes in everything)...so she will quote from there....hence...based on my OWN methods of sieving out important information from my mom, some things well...are worth listening...some things are not so like confinement rules (blah!)and fengshui (double huh??) ....keke..

well...no matter how sometimes you get irritated with moms' nagging or scolding or behaviour or just wanting us to do things their way....there will be good times and bad....but just appreciate them for their good intentions...and just because ...they are your moms...

ps. they had to suffer nine months of carrying you inside them and then the horrendous one month of confinement plus the whatever-your-age-is years of taking care of you!
